History and Media About Simon Etheridge Simon Etheridge is a former Guildhall student with a First Class Honors degree in fine art and design. After relocating to Brighton he opened the Art Asylum Gallery on St. James’ Street in Kemp Town in 2001. His first solo exhibition in Brighton was at chic Boutique Hotel Blanch House and had a ‘Playboy Bunnies’ theme. An original Playboy Bunny girl from Mayfair was the guest of honour while Simon’s Playboy Bunny artwork adorned the walls. From there Simon has exhibited all over the world, from The Affordable Art show in London to Pier 22 in New York! For Simon’s first Brighton Fringe Festival, he decided on ‘Famous Icons’ as his theme, depicting famous people who would appeal to all generations, from David Beckham and Madonna to Frank Sinatra and Elvis. It was his larger-than-life Kylie Minogue canvas – you know the one of her in the famous gold hot pants - which caught the eye of the local press and within 24 hours, was seen in the national press and even on BBC News! A rush of sales and private commissions followed which lead to Simon’s artwork being commissioned by Bar Lattitude, Blanch House, The Candy Bar, N0.5 Cavendish Square, and Sea Spray Boutique Hotel for whom he supplied artwork and designed a suitably surreal theme for their ‘Salvador Dali’ room. Simon’s work is currently exhibited in bars, clubs, cafés and hotels, and even adorns the walls in a plastic surgery clinic in West Hollywood! ![]() |
